Yahoo! Nice Girls Finish Fat Message Board

Therapists have long known that groups help individuals recover from many kinds of problems. A group helps you feel less ashamed of your eating behaviors, provides hope, encouragement and concrete suggestions, and reminds you that you don’t have to struggle alone. In fact, one of the major problems of disregulated eaters is that they believe they need to heal themselves by themselves. Not true.

Message board members hail from all over the world, but their problems are pretty much like yours—they’re tired of overeating, dieting, binge-eating, white-knuckling food decisions, and just want to eat “normally” and get on with their lives. They’re learning to set boundaries with others, say “yes” and “no” to food appropriately, boost their self-esteem, and get comfortable with and in their bodies. Any topic that impacts eating and weight is fair game and confidentiality among members is paramount. I moderate the board, answer questions, post suggestions, and check in daily to make sure communication is flowing.

The boards are free, easy to join and use, and you can unsubscribe whenever you want. Here’s what members have to say about them:

Karen's voice is a welcome reminder of the gentleness and compassion I need to show myself in this "normal eating" process. Her tone is helpful and open and encouraging, a voice I am learning to develop in my own life.
-- E.B.

Karen's therapeutic encouragement has enabled me to face many issues about my life which were keeping me in bondage to food and overeating, and now I am free from emotional eating and able to get on with life and living!
-- K.K.

I’ve always felt so alone with my eating problems, ashamed of them and of my weight. It’s such a relief to find out how many people feel just like I do. It’s really cool how together we’re helping each other change and make progress with food.
-- L.R.

I can’t afford therapy right now, but by reading Karen’s FOOD AND FEELINGS WORKBOOK and using this message board, my eating has really changed a lot. My moods aren’t so up and down and I actually have times I feel like a normal eater. The people on this board are so kind and gentle and caring. I’m so glad they’re part of my life.”
